4th of July Donuts

What You'll Need
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • 1.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbs. shortening
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. pie seasoning
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • Glaze
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ tsp. vanilla
  • 4 tbs. water
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 325 and lightly oil the donut pans.
  2. In a large bowl, add the flour, baking soda, sugar, and spices as well as the salt and whisk together
  3. In a small bowl, add the milk, eggs (pre-beaten), vanilla and shortening and whisk together.
  4. Add the wet to the dry and mix until well combined.
  5. To fill the donut pans, I used a squeezy bottle (shown above) and filled each cup about ¾ of the way full.
  6. Place in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until the donuts spring back when touched.
  7. Set out to cool before glazing.
  8. To make the glaze, add the confectioners sugar to a medium-sized bowl and slowly add the water and vanilla until you reach a consistency you like.
